Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to site owners. Cookies do not contain malware or viruses and cannot access other files on your device.

This policy covers cookies and similar technologies (local storage, session storage) used on protohuman.tech. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

2. Legal Basis (KVKK & GDPR)

Under the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / ePrivacy Directive), cookies that collect personal data require your prior explicit consent — unless they are strictly necessary for the technical functioning of the service or fulfil a service you have explicitly requested.

We never load non-essential cookies (analytics, marketing) before you have given consent. Necessary cookies are placed automatically as they are required for the site to function.

3. Cookies We Use

We categorise our cookies into three groups:

NecessaryNo consent required
next-auth.session-token1stMaintains your authenticated sessionSession / 30 days
next-auth.csrf-token1stCross-site request forgery protectionSession

_ga_*3rd (Google)Stores session state for Google Analytics 42 years

Analytics cookies are currently not active on this site. This section will be updated if analytics services are added in future.

MarketingConsent required
We currently use no marketing or advertising cookies. No third-party advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or social media tracking scripts are loaded on this site.

4. First-Party vs Third-Party Cookies

First-party cookies are set directly by ProtoHuman and are only readable by us.

Third-party cookies are set by external services (such as Google Analytics). Under KVKK Article 9 and GDPR Chapter V, placing third-party cookies from servers outside Turkey constitutes an international data transfer and requires appropriate safeguards. We only activate third-party cookies upon your explicit consent.

5. Managing Your Preferences

You can manage or withdraw your cookie consent at any time:

  • Cookie settings panel: Click the 🍪 icon in the bottom-left corner of any page to reopen the preference panel.
  • Browser settings: All modern browsers allow you to view, block, and delete cookies in your browser settings. Note that blocking necessary cookies may affect site functionality (e.g., you will not be able to stay logged in).
  • Google Analytics opt-out: If you have accepted analytics cookies, you can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. Your preferences are stored for 12 months, after which you will be asked to confirm them again.

6. Consent Records

When you make a cookie consent choice, we record the following information locally on your device: your selected preferences (accepted/rejected categories), and the timestamp of your decision. We do not transmit consent records to our server. This record allows us to honour your preferences on subsequent visits.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we add new features or services that involve new cookies, or when the regulatory landscape changes. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, if material changes affect non-necessary cookies, display the consent banner again.
